Strings Unstrung

1.
Soft horns woo our hearing, synth sneaks in around the edges of harmony, sowing discord and passion. The whole world beats to the rhythms and a certain air of elegance follows from the jerky cascade of arpeggios. They assume prominence and soar skyward at 3m. They disappear in thick banks of cloud, leaving vague traces as the drone of the sky warbles higher and higher. They become clearer, then fade, warnings echo madly, circle the drain, and die in despair. All that’s left is Sis’ whistle.
2.
Spring Waves 09:36
Up to your knees in waves that circle, in the dark blue night, as gangs of fireflies take erratic flight, reflecting up from the waves. The protests are pretty, but insufficient, and fade out to lie down in depths of lowering solitude. Surges stir up slow boils and thick coils, and a clean melody bounces upwards and outwards at once, and again and again. Things get even darker, and the melody that surges is the melody that flows outward into a flutter. 4:30m. Light tries to break through, that longed-for pearl-like violet of just before dawn. The melody factory pumps out the three-note refrains, basically copyrighting every three notes that ever existed. 6m. It lightens up, but slowly, like bubbles trapped in a thick gel on the verge of solidity. A vast consensus somehow fails to sink in, violent uprisings terminate in rainbows, particle showers, high energy photons, and then, from under everything, a neutrino bids us a solemn farewell. The melody makes one sweep of the stage and says a three-part goodbye.
3.
Rouse ye beams and rays and reflections shot cunningly through clouds and shrouds of crystals. Gather ye root-stalks while ye may, pluck the dangling rose, clip the slack head of peony, watch it all dissolve in a Hollywood montage of former days of glory. Ascend! 3m. The repose of the reaction is delimited by insanity on the right, and sour unity on the left. A glimpse of winter out the dirt-obscured window has you wondering what is it you see, streets unknown, a bus with strange lights, the first frail flakes of early winter snow? 5:30m. Regathering whatever we have left, a hundred silk-thread levels up.
4.
Shaky days of shaky memories flit in and out of certainty, as if anything were ever certain these days. The notes of a revolutionary, inscribed on pot-shards, scattered among the bone-yards of yore, yield insights as arcane as crispy little sci-fi clicks reverberating down numberless corridors wet with flooded intentions thwarted. Downwards in sweeps and swing sets, it settles and genuflects. Resurrection comes in milky waves, thick and luscious, swelling at 3m. It fades back, lit by lambent beams, aslant and somehow shockingly astray. The strength of a harmonic swell peaks and dies, leaving curlicues and passing fancies to twirl down again and again until just the light is left to see. A pulsing swell emerges, sports random thoughts, and vanishes.
5.
The durable note starts, themes combine, melodies sputter and reproduce, and a solemn guitar comes in and out. An urgent plaint is pumped in and note two starts, a fairy-tale fantasy castle figure on the prog rock guitar. 3m. The new note is introduced and a guitar figure paves the way for a crescendo, pops in again, and then introduces the fourth note, on the guitar. Improvisations on the guitar give way to one last insistent coda.
6.
It’s such a nice day outside today, we should go out! What? Are you crazy? If we do this, then we gotta do that, and before that we gotta do this, and meanwhile time marches somehow limping on. Cogitations in robust circulation roll through, bothered by metallic shadow sounds rasping down the corridors of sound. It got wound up, tight and tighter. 3m. The tight heightens, harmony cuts in and out, and then the stomping lockstep of a train rushes through. It’s a journey through a multi-verse tunnel of sonic love after that, stuff coming in and out and drifting up and down in frequencies. Then a three note statement became just another bit, winding down, circling the drain, fading with a few last taps, in a frenzy of plasmic wonder.
